“The Traffickers” and The Criminal Aura Graph: A Global Story of Crime

    December 4, 2016

As explained in the series “The Traffickers”, global crime is about complex criminal networks. The Criminal Aura Graph, a massive visualization of criminal networks, shows part of this complexity.

With data processed, analyzed and modeled by Vortex Foundation, the “Criminal Aura Graph” shows the transnational movement of trafficked resources, according to several criminal networks analyzed by Vortex Foundation.

As featured in the “Traffickers” Website, “The Criminal Aura Graph brings to life years of research on international trafficking from the Vortex Foundation. See for yourself how money, minerals, humans and more move between buyers and sellers around the world.”

To navigate through the Criminal Aura Graph, activate or deactivate specific criminal networks (Select Network) and specific trafficked resources (Hide legend). To get a better idea of global crime, make sure all the criminal networks are activated. Start exploring criminal networks in: www.thetraffickers.com

While identifying the actors, modalities and complexities of each type of traffic, “The Traffickers” is a step forward in the fight against global crime. The initial four episodes exploring the traffic of children, rhino horn, organs and firearms, are available in iTunes.
